Why The Lion?

I often get questions about our lion logo, so I want to tell the story of how it came to be. Beyond just a memorable visual, to me it symbolizes the call of duty I seek to fulfill by serving you as a Congressman.

I chose the lion because his spirit matches the spirit of Colorado that I aim to fight for in Washington. Lions are noble, courageous, and independent. They act boldly to provide for and protect their families. A lion operates in and commands his environment by a full commitment to first principles. And just as our lion is looking towards the stars, those stars represent my three young children—along with so many others, including yours—and the bright future we must create for them.

Thus, the lion embodies an ethos I strive to bring to my own life, both heretofore as a private citizen with a family and now as a public servant. That’s why I can confidently tell you: I am not a politician. I have no patience for half measures and unjust compromise born of self-interest. We’ve had enough of that from a government that no longer holds itself accountable to us.

What we need is wise and determined leadership to face today’s unprecedented challenges with solutions that uphold our values. I’m well prepared to be one of those leaders because I’ve spent my life testing the depths of my thought process and my integrity by helping people excel in difficult circumstances. I will be part of the coalition that enacts principled governance, protecting the rights of individuals and unlocking their potential.

While our country faces an historical crisis, I believe it is also an opportunity to prove the strength of our character and our spirit. I know that together we will make the most of this moment.

So that’s “Why The Lion”!
