Education and school choice trailblazer Steve Schuck has endorsed decorated army combat veteran and Republican candidate Erik Aadland in the Congressional District 7 race. Erik is a West Point graduate who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is two-time Bronze Star recipient. In addition, he worked in the oil and gas industry. But it is Erik’s shared values regarding education that Schuck noted as one of the reasons for his support.

“Erik is a combat veteran who knows how to lead in a tough battle—there’s no greater battle that is raging right now than in our classrooms,” said Steve. “Today’s students are the future of our nation, and their education will determine that future. Erik will support parents who know what is best for their children in their quest for quality learning that is free from political agendas.”

Steve has long been an advocate for empowering parents with school choice. He and his late wife, Joyce, created Parents Challenge 22 years ago to empower low-income parents with the informational and financial resources to escape failing schools and choose whatever schools they decide are best for their children. Parents Challenge parents can choose from the full menu of school options, including traditional public, charter public, private, and home. The Schucks have a long history of actively supporting and helping all, but especially disadvantaged, children gain access to a quality education.

Erik’s remarks:

“I’m deeply honored to have Steve’s endorsement”, said Erik. “He has been a pioneer in education and as a father of three, I am greatly concerned about what our children are learning in school. I’m grateful for what Steve and Joyce have done for many young people. I’m hoping I can continue their legacy by supporting school choice and other educational policies that will help children thrive.”
